Sailing to Purgatory
The final scene in this true adventure shocked the author, too.

‘The reader will be enthralled as Paul, former Fleet Street journalist turned professional yachtmaster, takes us along on his ‘swallowing the anchor’ voyage, his retirement from the sea.

'This self-confessed newish ancient mariner … has spent almost a lifetime sailing solo, as both an ocean going competitive yachtsman, as a DoT Commercial Yachtmaster, and during his circumnavigation to become a singlehanded Cape Horner ... Sailing to Purgatory has all the roller coaster elements of a heart stopping adventure — drama on the high seas, observing life ... undersea volcanoes, a love interest, and waves high enough to scare the pants off most of us.’ - Brenda Vowden, journalist, avid reader

Good friend Bankim said he was very pleased to hear about Amazon's delivery.

Er, yes, er, no ... Bankim tries to buy a copy of Sailing to Purgatory from Amazon but the online giant says no can do.

A definfite maybe ... Amazon have the order and it's on the way. So the document says.
A little earlier today, I had told in these blogs of the good news from Amazon, that Sailing to Purgatory is in the Amazon warehouse, and a copy is on the way.

When Bankim read the blog, he went online to Amazon straight away to order a copy or two of Sailing to Purgatory.

But naughty Amazon! What the internet presented Bankim with was the 'old' Amazon notice that the book has not yet arrived in their world. I presume they hadn't updated their online presence, or perhaps in this case, lack of presence.

When I heard, I checked my Amazon email straight away, 'Your Amazon package has been despatched.' Yes, I had read the message correctly. The promise in the message is that it is on the way. And checking the Track Your Package link, the message is 'delivery tomorrow'.

So now we can all be sure that Amazon really does have Sailing to Purgatory in stock ... or not. Meanwhile, I asked that other book giant, BookDepository, if they have a small mountain of Sailing to Purgatory paperbacks available.

Before long, their Jennifer Cuypers replied. 'Hi Paul,I'm terribly sorry; it appears that the item was made unavailable from our suppliers.

'We tried every resource available to us in order to obtain this title, however we were, on this occasion, unsuccessful. Please note you can signup for notifications via email on the right-hand site of this page: Kind Regards,Jennifer Cuypers,Customer Advisor.'

Well, so now we know ... or almost know ... or perhaps might even be left more in the dark. The zillion dollar question then is will the Amazon man arrive tomorrow? Watch this space!
