The cover of Sailing to Purgatory by Paul Rodgers promises the reader an ocean adventure, romance and a shocking ending. It does all of these things most certainly but, be cautioned. This is not a straightforward quick beach-read.

What do you do when you have something for sale? You post it on eBay, a very handy online service that I’ve used for the past decade. This time I had a computer monitor surplus to requirements, as the saying goes, so eBay seemed the logical and certain way to pass it on.

The prestigious deep ocean journal The Cape Horner has asked me to tell their readers just what encouraged me to sail off alone into the wide often-blue yonder to round Cape Horn and back. It's a long way.
